There’s so much elegance and class in this opera house engagement shoot captured by The Lockharts! Kristin and Scott’s story began when they first met five years ago at a mutual friend’s gathering. Kristin was home for the holidays but would soon be returning to Louisiana for graduate school. Although Scott withheld the urge to ask for her number that night, he decided he would do so at a New Year’s Eve celebration Kristin was expected to attend with their mutual friends a few days later. When rainy, cold weather kept Kristin home on NYE, Scott made the hard decision to slide into her DMs. It was the perfect of beginning to their non-traditional love story! After two years of a long-distance phase due to Kristin’s graduate work, the pair finally reunited in the North Texas area where Scott eventually popped the question! For their November wedding, the couple is thinking clean and sophisticated with a palette of ivory, black and gold. Kristin will walk down the aisle in a gown from StarDust Celebrations, and we know she will look just as radiant as she does in this glamorous engagement shoot gallery! Their sweet day will be topped off with an open bar which they are thrilled about, and an even sweeter treat – a custom wedding cake from Sugar Bee Sweets Bakery. From the bride: “We were in Atlanta visiting our families for the holiday season. It was a season for firsts – my oldest sister was hosting Christmas for the first time, it was my first time meeting some of Scott’s extended family, and it was our first holiday season where both of our immediate families were together. After a day filled with holiday traditions, gift opening, feasts and drinks, at the request of Scott and my sisters, we ended the night playing a game of Cards Against Humanity. It probably wouldn’t have been my first choice for family-friendly games since we were in the company of my grandmother, but after a few bottles of champagne, we were all just going with the flow. When it became Scott’s turn, his card was “The weather outside is frightful but ___ is so delightful.” After reading a handful of inappropriate cards, he said, “The weather outside is frightful but…getting to marry my best friend and spend the rest of my life with her…is oh-so-delightful.” As he rose to come toward me and get down on his knee, one of our favorite songs (well more specifically mine since I’ve voiced countless times wanting to walk down the aisle to this song) began playing: Sam Smith’s acoustic version of “Latch” by Disclosure. So there, on Christmas Day, in the presence of both of our families, Scott so beautifully (and unconventionally) asked me to marry him.”
