What is your favorite part of being a wedding planner?
My favorite part of being a wedding planner is meeting all of my amazing couples and being able to play such a key role on a new chapter of their life together. The smiles and hugs are so heartwarming throughout the wedding day from not only the bride and groom but also the wedding party. That just reminds me of why I love what I love.
What’s the one piece of advice you share with every bride?
Be true to yourself when planning your wedding. Things happen, and be completely honest with yourself and have an open mind. I won’t take away all of the stress, but at the very least 90% of it!
Favorite way for a bride to personalize her wedding?
I love when my couples incorporate a common hobby into the seating arrangement or the table decor. It’s okay to not follow trends, simply because they go out left and right, so I encourage couples to dig deep on the personal levels and make your guests say, “That’s so them!”
What are the key deadlines every bride should meet?
This one is tricky! Everything is key when planning a wedding, but I kind of cringe when a bride is 3-6 months out and they don’t have a photographer. Make that a priority next to the venue obviously. I’ve witnessed couples having to settle because their dream photographer was booked, or not being able to find a suitable fit. Another great “deadline” is making time for yourself. Brides get so caught up in constantly planning, make it a must to go on a date night or a spa day and not think or do anything wedding planning-related. It’s always nice to just step away and refresh yourself.
How do you navigate family conflict when planning?
Family is family and we all want to make everyone happy when it comes to planning a date where two families are coming together. Honestly, the best way to navigate things is to have sit-down, face-to-face chats about wants, needs and meeting halfway on certain things. It’s okay to communicate. Things may or may not get heated, but it won’t be the end of the world. At the end of the day it’s about you and your fiancé.
