Desert-Chic Texas Wedding Inspiration from Maxwell & Gray

Friday, October 25th, 2019

Made of equal parts tumbleweed and whimsy, we are currently loving this desert-chic Texas wedding shoot from Maxwell + Gray and Emily Kaye Designs that features an editorial take on all things that make the bluebonnet state beautiful. Rustic leather and barnwood barrel chairs, settee and table from Coral Lane Rentals help to set the stage for an intimate desert-chic tablescape of terracotta palette, bold and cheery floral and succulent details, and woven bohemian tablecloth. This ambiance is topped off by a modern multi-tiered southwestern-meets-abstract cake from XO Cakery that we are obsessed with. The bride’s satin and chiffon gown from Lovely Bride features all our favorite things — a deep V-neck, A-line waist, and an open back. We love the way the bride is styled by WZ Beauty Studio with a beautifully messy bun and simple, neutral bridal makeup so that her natural beauty is able to shine through. These fine points carry on the whimsical, feminine aesthetic that perfectly contrasts with the roughness of the Texas outdoors. We can’t wait to slip on some boots and attend this dreamy desert-chic Texas wedding! Cheers!

From the planner at Maxwell + Gray Events: “From cactus to cattle to Texas-raised vendors, this collaboration showcases a modern, elegant approach to Texas wedding decor and style. Rather than focusing purely on the predictable rustic or cowboy elements that are often found in western styled weddings, the vendors focused on touches that were more subtly, though still acutely, Texan. The Dallas-native florist used dried flowers, various types of cacti, and the “Yellow Rose of Texas” in her designs, Coral Lane Rentals provided cow-hide furniture and ceramic dinnerware, the groom and bride both sported elements from Pinto Ranch which is known as ‘the premier purveyor of the finest western wear and accessories for western lifestyles.’ The photographer took an editorial approach to capture the creativity exhibited by each of the Texas vendors, encouraging the bride, who is also a dancer, to relax into her natural movement rather than pose stagnantly before the lens.”

Vibrant Autumn Tablescape Inspiration from Silver Lining Events + Co.

Monday, September 30th, 2019

So much sunshiny goodness lately! This incredible vibrant autumn tablescape from Elisabeth Landry at Silver Lining Events + Co. showcases golden bouquets from Lush Couture Floral, velvet tablecloths and linens via AM Linen Rental, a romantic dining scene from Lawson Event Rentals and so much more. What really sets an event apart from others is having a collection of well-curated details. From a fun pretzel station by Vestals Catering displayed by a custom rack by Belle Décor, to the delicate cake art by Delicious Cakes, it is easy to see the attention to detail throughout this shoot. Our mouths were watering after seeing the beautiful meal presentation from Vestals Catering and cool cocktails from HD Liquid Catering! The custom invitation suite designed by Illustrated Weddings by Lola Loren was garden wedding approved, complementing the venue, The Dallas Arboretum. Glowing makeup and soft curls from Rouge and Rosé Beauty paired beautifully with a classic, yet modern gown from Grace Loves Lace, as well as classic jewels from The True GemBen Q Photography was there to capture the natural beauty of the bride and the setting. Experience it for yourself in the behind the scenes video from The Lockharts below!

From the planner, Elisabeth Landry of Silver Lining Events: “I am really loving this color palette for fall — mustard, turmeric and burnt yellows with peaches, blush and oranges mixed in. I love lots of texture, so this table top featured rich fabrics in classic shades for fall, yet keeping it bright and happy with vibrant floral. I wanted to show a bright twist to a classic fall wedding palette.”

Get Fit for the Wedding Day with Nutrition Tips from Bells & Barbells!

Thursday, September 26th, 2019

Have you ever wondered – what’s more beneficial to getting fit: diet or exercise? Or, how do I stick to a nutritional plan? Bells & Barbells Wedding Fitness‘ registered dietician, Kayley George, is sharing not only her answers to these questions, but is filling us in on all the ins and outs of working a diet into your wedding fitness plan. Read on to meet Kayley and hear her fab nutrition tips!

nutrition tips from Bells and Barbells

1. What does a bride or groom get when booking your nutritional services?

Our customized nutrition packages come with everything you need to be successful in your #weddingdiet. Bundled in either a 6- or 12-week package, you’ll receive 1:1 weekly , texting accountability, customized meal plans, an educational nutrition platform and unlimited access to myself as your dietitian. Once you’re on board with me, I’ll coordinate with your personal trainer at B&B to make sure you receive a collaborative nutrition and fitness plan.

2. Walk us through what a nutritional consultation looks like.

My philosophy with nutrition is to build sustainable habits, not follow a temporary diet. In a typical coaching session, we look at your goals, your typical diet, your current habits, and find areas to make changes. For example, if you’re drinking three sodas a day, let’s try to drop that down to one, then let’s switch to water, and then let’s drink double that amount of water. It’s all about baby steps! My goal is to come up with practical strategies to make living realistic for you as a busy bride or groom. Once you’ve mastered the foundational habits, then we get to experiment with higher-level nutrition strategies manipulating macronutrients, intermitting fasting, carb cycling and so on!

3. What is your number one tip when providing a nutrition plan?

Pair your carbs! I repeat this like a broken record. Instead of running away from carbs, choose whole food sources of carbs (fruit, starchy veggies, whole grains, legumes, etc.) and pair with a fat or protein to balance your blood sugar and energy levels. Protein and fat encourage satiety, whereas carbs are quick energy sources that leave you hungry soon after. Some popular combinations include apples with peanut butter, cottage cheese and berries, and crackers and hummus.

4. Which is more important, diet or exercise?

I am biased, but I am definitely team DIET! I always say abs are made in the kitchen. You can’t out-exercise a bad diet, no matter how hard you may try (and believe me, many do!).

5. What tips do you have to keep brides and grooms on their diet?

Accountability is key. If you aren’t working with a professional like myself, find someone else in your circle who can support you on this journey. You need accountability in the good times and the bad. We make so many food choices every day, it’s inevitable that you will slip. But rather than throw in the towel, an accountability partner will help you pick right back up where you left off.

6. What are some of your go-to meal suggestions?

I’m a big fan of 3-ingredient meals. With how busy our brides and grooms are, this simple strategy can make meal prepping mindless. A 3-ingredient meal needs 3 components: protein, carb, and veggie. To portion out, each ingredient should fill 1/3 of your meal prep container or plate. Some easy combinations are chicken/sweet potato/spinach, salmon/ sprouts/chickpeas, and shrimp/tomato/brown rice.

Kayley’s nutritional services are available with every Bells & Barbells fitness plan. To book your consultation with the B&B team, visit their website or message the team directly via their Brides of North Texas vendor profile.

Cheers to the New Brides of North Texas Fall/Winter 2019 Cover!

Cheers to the New Brides of North Texas Fall/Winter 2019 Cover!

We are always on the hunt for a gorgeous, fashion-forward look to grace the cover of our mag, which is why it’s no surprise that this jaw-dropping image captured by Avery Earl Photography landed on our Fall/Winter 2019 cover! The editorial shoot designed and styled by Keestone Events at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth was equal parts artistic and romantic with a simplistic design focused on natural light and clean lines, and featured the most stunning strapless Vera Wang Ava gown from Stanley Korshak Bridal Salon. Not only did we fall in love with the barely-there, off-the-shoulder sleeves, but with the model bride’s hair and makeup by Tousled Studio – glowing skin with warm tones on the eyes and a light plum color for her lips and a twisted lower hair style in a delicate finish with volume and texture. The modern palette of the bouquet created by Root + Bloom Floral Design consisted of rich mustard, pale yellow, peach and varying shades of complementing pinks. The final touch to this picture perfect bridal look were the recycled 18-karat champagne gold drop earrings with round moissanites from The True Gem. We can’t get enough!

Join us in congratulating Avery on her first Brides of North Texas cover! Stay tuned to see the full Grayscale editorial featuring cake and desserts by Sugar Bee Sweets, paperie from Bethany’s Letter Shop, rentals from Top Tier Event Rentals & Staffing and behind-the-scenes video by Co. N Films. Cheers!

Can you believe the cover reveal is tomorrow?! Neither can we! And while we’re dying to share the all-new issue with  you, we’re equally as excited to share a sneak peek look at our Fall/Winter 2019 fashion editorial, Splendor: A Stately Affair. Set at the stunning French baroque-inspired mansion, The Olana, our team of incredible wedding vendors set to work to bring this elegant and modern shoot to life. Our bride and groom posed alongside the dreamiest of vignettes thanks to some jaw-dropping floral installs from 21 Parc Floral & Events placed throughout the mansion’s picturesque space. The bride was dressed in the most stylish and contemporary bridal gowns from our favorite local North Texas boutiques, styled by the fab Lindsey Zamora Events, and her looks were finished with classic hair and makeup from Brittany Jones Beauty. The icing on each ensemble was, of course, the sparkling diamond rings, earrings and fine jewelry from The True Gem. We can’t wait for you to see the full shoot captured by Bethany Erin Photography along with the behind the scenes video from Pharris Photos & Philms, but until then, enjoy this sneak peek featuring a cape-sleeve Pronovias Atelier gown from Patsy’s, a Bridal Boutique.
