Behind the Seams with Enzoani

Enzoani is gearing up to showcase their entire new fabulous line of accessories, dresses, shoes etc. in their big annual Fall Fashion Show! KC Lin, lead designer, took time out of his enormously busy schedule to fill us in on all of the details and preparation that go into making flawless designs each and every time.

Q: Where do you find inspiration?

A: When I’m not living with my designs, I’m traveling. Experiencing different cultures and scenery is extremely inspiring.

Q: What influences your choice of fabrics for the jackets?

A: The theme of the season depicts what type of fabrics will be used more so than others. With statement jackets I’ll use fabrics that will make a larger visual impact like layers of ruffled chiffon, or feathers attached to Swarovski crystals.

Q: What are the biggest fashion trends in accessories that a bride can use to feel red carpet ready?

A: Recently belts have been a big hit. We created a whole line of belts using different crystals and fabrics to pair with our dresses, and what can be more glamorous than a Swarovski crystal encrusted belt that accents a small waist.

Q: What’s a typical day like for you?

A: In my free time I’m constantly sketching or reading magazines. I enjoy the ready to wear and European couture collections of designers like Dries Van Noten and the late, Alexander McQueen. During the season, which is all year, I’m in the office working on perfecting and overseeing every aspect of the collection

Q: Describe your creative process for us…

A: I sketch throughout the year and when I find one I love, I model the next season of Enzoani Collections from this one sketch. The tone and theme of this sketch determines the thread for the Enzoani, Blue by Enzoani and the love Collections.

Q: What’s the best part of your job?

A: I enjoy the creative freedom designing bridal and special occasion offers. My aesthetic is very simple, a blend of traditional and modern European however, each season I do my best to find inventive ways to create different silhouettes using textures. The most rewarding and fulfilling part is the reaction received from my designs; whether it is from the public, media or a woman that has worn my design. I invest so much time and energy on each design and to view someone respond with the same sentiment is truly the best part of my job.
