Bridal Beauty Spotlight – Natalia Issa Hair & Makeup Artistry

When the big day finally arrives, every bride wants to look her best! Which is why we’re continuing to team up with local bridal beauty experts to get the inside scoop on all things bridal beauty. We recently sat down with DFW hair and makeup artist Natalia Issa to get her expert advice. Check out her helpful tips below and stay tuned to the blog as we share more beauty tips from local North Texas experts!

How can a bride keep her mascara from streaking or smudging on the big day — especially if she can’t contain the waterworks?!
Go for the right formula. Experiment with different brands — some brands work better for specific problems. If you have a very oily skin, you might opt for a formula that is smudge and budge proof. My favorite mascara of all time is Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash — it is definite must for my brides.

Any advice for a bride-to-be who is trying to decide on a hairstyle for the big day?
The perfect hairstyle for the big day is a hairstyle that complements and at the same time is the opposite of her dress. By that I mean, if you have a very elaborate dress, keep your hairstyle simple, or if your dress is simple then do something chic, beautiful and interesting with your hair. Keeping in mind that the hairstyle you land on is the hairstyle for your wedding. Also, it depends on the mood or theme of your wedding. For example, if your wedding theme is city chic then your hairstyle should complement the theme of your dress and your wedding, a very elegant dress and wedding deserves an elegant hairstyle. I believe the most valuable piece of advice I can give is definitely do a trial run, and take images to your stylist of what you have envisioned your hair to look like on wedding day. Also take two options, and decide which one works best with your dress and your overall look for the wedding. Last piece of advice is to have it done professionally. Professionals know how to make your hairstyle last all night.

How can a bride help her make-up stay put for the entire event? Definitely using a skin primer and a setting powder. It also depends on the makeup brand and technique used by your makeup artist. Most of the products I use on my brides are waterproof, longwearing and HD camera ready. If you want something that will really last the entire event, your might want to consider airbrush makeup.

What beauty product should every bride have with her at all times?
Lipstick or lipgloss. If you don’t want to worry about retouching, opt for a longwearing lipstick with a very high performance formula such as Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Rouge or Mac Cosmetics Pro Longwear Lipcolour.

What’s your favorite color of nail polish?
Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Pink Crush.

What beauty trends are you noticing for the winter? For hair, slick chic chignons and old Hollywood glam inspired, side parted with soft curls.
The biggest trends on makeup are peach cheeks and glowing skin, the mesmerizing black ink lined, cat eye, no liner or mascara on the bottom eyelid or lashes and golden eyes. Lastly, red/coral lips or some form of pink is in for this season.

Any other helpful beauty tips for brides on their big day?
Hydrate and cut salt from your diet prior to wedding day. Hydrated skin is gorgeous and it really pays off to drink plenty of water not just for the big day, but also on a regular basis. Cutting salt from your diet will reduce water retention in your body and reduce eye puffiness.
