Beauty insight for the big day is on every bride’s mind, so we sat down with North Texas wedding hair and makeup artist Brittany Jones of Brittany Jones Hair and Makeup to bring you the 411 on the latest bridal beauty tips and trends! Read on for her expert advice to make sure you’re every bit the blushing bride on your wedding day!
Q: What advice do you have for a bride trying to find the right look for her day?
A: Look everywhere for inspiration! Bridal magazines, social media and beauty professionals are all great resources for finding your dreamt of wedding day look. Try to set a realistic expectation for yourself and your day-of artist/stylist by finding inspiration pictures and styles that match or are close to your same hair color and length and same skin tone. Best tip: find a hair and makeup artist who you feel can replicate the look you’re dreaming of and also someone you will enjoy spending your big day with!
Q: Do you recommend doing a trial run before the big day?
A: 100% YES! I highly recommend that every bride do a trial run with their wedding day beauty professional/team. Not only will you get to meet them beforehand and get to know them and their style. This will also relieve any unnecessary stress you may have about how you want your hair and/or makeup on your wedding day!
Q: What beauty trends do you predict for the coming year?
A: Short hair and more shimmer! I saw a lot of short dos at NYFW! Everything has been about long, voluminous curls for awhile. While I think this will always be a classic look, I think we might be seeing more short cuts. The makeup look the past year has been ALL about heavy contour and matte palettes. I think we’ll be seeing more subtle, natural ways to contour and highlight. Maybe that’s a dream for this makeup artist, but I love a good, natural glowing bride with big bright eyes and ALWAYS lashes!
Q: What should a bride do to prepare for her wedding?
A: Trial everything! There’s nothing worse than getting to wedding week and not being prepared with your beauty routine! Hair, makeup, your airbrush tan, nails, skin, you name it! You should have everything nailed down before getting to wedding week. [It’s a] huge stress reliever and allows you more time to focus on your big day when it gets down to “crunch time.”
Q: What is the most important beauty and/or hair product every bride should have?
A: The perfect hair and makeup artist! Haha! It is so hard to limit a girl to one product! But, if I had to pick just one, I would say the perfect foundation. If you don’t have a quality foundation that matches your skin color and your skin needs, you really aren’t doing your makeup routine or your skin justice!
Q: Any other insider tips you have for brides-to-be?
A: Relax and enjoy the process! Find a beauty professional and a beauty routine that works for you and that you trust. Trusting and enjoying your day-of artist will lead to a much more enjoyable experience for you as a bride. There’s nothing better than a glowing, happy bride and having the right team and regimen in your bridal arsenal will make this so much easier!
