This Editorial Engagement Session Ends in a Literal Smoke Show!

This newly married corona couple had the most stunning editorial engagement session shot by Laning Photography! Though their nuptial plans were changed due to COVID-19, high school sweethearts Jennifer and Kerry’s love prevailed, and they tied the knot in the living room of their Dallas home (watch their must-see video here!). Now, with things on their way to settling down, they hope to finally host a bigger ceremony in which they re-read their heartfelt vows in front of family and friends and celebrate with a fun-filled reception on the first of November! Planned by Maxwell + Gray, Jennifer and Kerry’s make-up wedding plans will be boho chic in theme, drawing inspiration from dried florals, pampas grass, succulents and greenery, and include a ranging color palette of peach, amber, neutrals, golden yellow and pops of bold jewel tone colors. Jennifer loves the aesthetic and floral design that is going to be involved, but her favorite detail turned out to be something even more heartfelt and special. “I was in love with my bouquet and florals, but my favorite detail would have to be our handwritten vows to each other in our beautiful green and gold foiled vow books,” Jennifer says. “My husband is kind of a quiet guy and his vows completely surprised me. Everyone was so impressed because they were really touching.” We’re not crying, you are! Read on to hear a note from the bride about how he popped the question, as well as a few words from Laning Photography about this stunning casual meets editorial engagement session. Cheers to Jennifer and Kerry!

From the bride: “Kerry took me to my favorite sushi restaurant and surprised me with a trip to Hawaii. Once in Oahu on the Lulumahu Hike, we trekked through lush forests and streams to arrive at a beautiful secluded waterfall. Kerry asked me to sit on the biggest boulder in front of the waterfall for a ‘photo’ and proceeded to kneel down. He pulled a delicate handcrafted wooden box from his pocket and asked me to marry him. The ring was a rose gold sapphire solitaire with a hidden under halo on a thin diamond band. The sapphire was breathtaking and so unique with a gorgeous deep peacock blue-green color. Of course, I said yes!”

From the photographer: “We were so sad that because of the COVID-19 shelter in place rules we were not able to be there, but we joined in to watch Kerry and Jennifer’s Zoom wedding on Sunday, April 4, 2020. It was such a sweet reminder that the greatest gift we have as humans is love. Love has the power to bring light and hope to even the darkest situations, and their love for one another shines so brightly!”
