A Romantic Engagement Picnic Captured by Chua Lee Photography

This couple celebrated their engagement in the cutest way possible – a spring picnic captured by Chua Lee Photography as well as some seriously romantic outdoor shots! Hallie and Jack first met over 20 years ago. Jack was four years older and best friends with Hallie’s older sister in middle school when he would frequently come over to visit. It wasn’t until the end of 2016, over a decade later, when the two began to spend lots of time together and eventually grew closer. Hallie was trying to play matchmaker for him all those years, and the answer was right in front of them both! Jack proposed with a beautiful rose gold halo ring with an oval peach morganite and a sweet story that Hallie recounts below. Now, in their upcoming December wedding, they plan for an elegant affair in shades of navy, burgundy, mauve, and rose gold accents. Though they are thrilled about the romantic wedding design alone, there are a few other details these lovebirds are most excited for. “We also created our own invitations, table numbers, seating chart, card box, signs, and more, so we are excited to see all those details we worked so hard on finally come together,” Hallie says. “Lastly, I can’t wait to see Jack’s face when we have our first look and I finally get to wear my gown. My mom used to own a bridal shop. She altered and added embellishments to my gown and veil, so it is extra special to me.” We love when couples incorporate sentimental details into their big day, and we know the couple in this engagement will do just that! Read on for a note from the soon-to-be bride about the sweet story of how Jack popped the question. Cheers to the future Khempaseuths!

From the bride: “We got engaged on 8/8/2020. With COVID happening, my friends and I hadn’t seen each other for a while and wanted to do a mini girls’ night. My best friend Amy had just purchased her first townhouse in Dallas, and our other friend Tran was supposed to celebrate her baby’s first birthday, but it was canceled. We decided to turn girls’ night into a housewarming/first birthday party. Amy wanted to go all out. She insisted on having us dress up, and wanted to decorate her place. I’m usually the party planner of the group, but Amy had told me she wanted to do everything since it was her first time being a homeowner. Every time something suspicious came up, my sister, Amy, and Jack would always have a legitimate response so I never suspected anything. That evening, I got ready and picked up my sister. I was getting antsy because my sister Jennifer was taking her sweet time getting ready and making us late. We even had to turn around after we left because she ‘forgot’ something (I found out later on she had to kill time). When we finally got to Amy’s townhouse, she gave me a tour. Her townhouse is three stories, so when I walked onto the first floor, everything was normal. As I was walking up to the second floor, I heard Ed Sheeran playing loudly, something Jack loves singing to me, but didn’t think anything of it. As soon as I got to the top of the second floor, I saw Jack in his suit, standing in front of a gorgeous set-up. There were vases, lights, flowers, and a beautiful backdrop setup. I was surprised and I teared up immediately. I saw my parents, my other sister, and our closest friends watching from the stairwell of the third floor. Jack got down on one knee and popped the question! I said ‘yes’ obviously! Jack proposed with a beautiful rose gold halo ring with an oval peach morganite. Everything was so well thought out and absolutely perfect. We celebrated with our friends and family the rest of the night.”
