Hawaiian Mountaintop Proposal

Our story began at Dallas Chinese Bible Church (DCBC) during one of the young adult outings at the Texas State Fair. We were both in a smaller group where we spent time getting to know each other while enjoying corndogs, dole whip, and deep-fried banana pudding! Little did Grace know their upbringing shared a common place, Singapore! Growing up, Jonathan would visit his paternal relatives while Grace spent her high school to college years in Singapore.

The story continued to unfold as we engaged in more conversations during DCBC fellowships and outings. Jonathan’s emergence of interest in Grace was noted by Pastor Josh and he encouraged Jonathan to pray and to pursue. After a couple weeks of praying, Jonathan had the courage to ask Grace out on a date. A few dates later, Grace revealed to Jonathan that she had also been praying for him with her family and her spiritual mentor. They both delighted in God’s timing as He blessed Grace with the patience to wait and Jonathan with the courage to pursue.

An important episode of the story was written on August 09, 2022 on the peak of Mount Haleakala in Maui, Hawaii. It was a breathtaking view of the sunrise, a masterpiece of artwork above the clouds by the Creator. There with the frosty breeze Jonathan led Grace away from the crowd to a scenic area where he proposed and the beautiful moment was captured by our dear friends Jon and Tina Hsu. It was an unforgettable day on the mountain with toasty joyful hearts!

We are beyond grateful to the Lord for His faithfulness that we had (and are still experiencing) in this relationship. We are very thankful to the spiritual leaders in our lives and friends who prayed and supported us throughout our journey. We are excited to see how God will continue to write our story.
