Hannah Houshian and Glen Marshall Jr.’s Elegant Whimsical DFW Wedding by Embrace the Day Events
SWEET BEGINNINGS: Hannah and Glen met through mutual friends right before she graduated from high school in May 2008. Her parents just moved to a community near Glen’s family and he was transferring to the University of Texas from the University of San Francisco. So really, it was perfect timing.
PERFECT PROPOSAL: Hannah had just got back to her and Glen’s apartment after finishing her last exam as a first-year law student when he surprised her. He was holding flowers, her suitcase and a card for her that read, “Congratulations on completing your first year of law school, babe. Now pack your bags because we leave for Europe in seven days!” During their two-week trip, Glen took Hannah on a tour of the Champ de Mars in Paris. When they got to the garden in front of the Eiffel Tower, she turned around and Glen was on one knee. In his hand, he held up the most gorgeous ring. It was a no-brainer that she said yes!
WHIMSICAL ELEGANCE: The bride and groom wanted to achieve a whimsical and elegant yet fun feel for their wedding. Hannah has always loved all things glitter, so having glitter hinted throughout the décor was a must. Her dress inspired her to pick colors to match a sophisticated style. They used a color palette of champagne, glitter gold, and nudes with a pop of turquoise, Hannah’s favorite color.
THE SETTING: Hannah and Glen rented the entire Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden because of its unique gardens and breathtaking scenic views. They wanted that whimsical and enchanted wedding-day feel. Getting married under Crape Myrtle Allee sealed the deal for them. The tunnel of sweeping crepe myrtle trees surrounds what looks like an endless stone walkway. It truly embodies an image taken directly from a fairytale book.
THE FIRST LOOK: Although Hannah and Glen have been so fortunate over the past eight years to see each other almost every single day, the first look was different. Hannah felt oddly nervous, excited and ready to see him for the first time in her gown. When he turned around as she approached him, she could not help but tear up because of how happy she was to have him turn around and hold her. They were looking forward to their day for so long and it felt so comforting at that moment to reflect on how lucky they are to have found each other.
