North Texas Wedding Planner Profile: House of Tales Events

Couture, refined, editorial-meets-authentic: just a few of the ways we’d describe the work of Maya Jareou, North Texas wedding planner and owner of House of Tales Events. Maya’s approach to planning weddings is based on 15 years’ experience. Her style is distinguished, her events, sophisticated and elevated. At the heart of her business, though, is a keen ability to connect with couples from all cultures and backgrounds to bring their incredible wedding visions to life.

When asked how she’d describe her aesthetic, Maya says: “My style is a mix of avant-garde, luxurious surreal reality with a hint of imagination opium.”

More-so than style, Maya considers her quality of work to be what sets House of Tales apart. “My work ethic, experience, communication, authenticity, passion for people’s stories and most definitely love for design, is what sets me apart. That fire drives me and helps me bring every couple’s story to life. I listen to discover and learn who they are, so that I can manifest their dream wedding. By being personable and easy going, loyal to a fault, goal- and detail-oriented, has served my couples well many and many times over, as it allows me to connect on a deeper personal level, regardless of culture, customs and backgrounds.”

“My favorite design detail in this editorial is the body-jewels that we custom made to create an avant-garde feel, combined with asymmetrical textured blooms in soft lilac and blues hues. It’s the perfect combination to complement this romantic, artistic and daring design.”

We love how this scene almost feels like we’ve been transported back in time, while at the same time, feeling contemporary and fresh. Maya credits this to her love for a distinct style. “After 15 years and counting of planning weddings and events, I have developed an infatuation with 16th-century Versailles design. It’s distinctly reflected in my approach.” Between the gown, the florals and the incredible altar, it’s hard to choose a favorite element of this styled shoot! So many details to adore.

“The moment I met Bryan and April, we truly connected,” Maya says. “From the beautiful lush organic flowers to the velvet table linens, to the ornate light blue and teal dinner glasses, we added that extra touch for each and every guest. My favorite element was the sweetheart table. We created a beautiful warm old world European feel. With the fireplace as the backdrop, we infused it with an asymmetrical floral design and grouping of candles, then finished it with an over the top fabulous floral runner filled with texture and edge.”

House of Tales has the know-how and imagination to give your event that statement-making wow factor. “I love anything that brings originality with a wow twist. Lately I have been using a lot of 3D architectural floral installations, whether it is a ceiling or just free-standing, to the weddings I design. These trends speak to the true core of who I am as a designer and what my design style stands for. It combines uniqueness with avant-garde elements.”
