Modern Ballroom Wedding Inspiration from Donnie Brown Weddings and Events

Taking the classic setting of a luxe, grandiose space and giving it a series of unique design features, we loved the creativity behind this modern ballroom wedding from Donnie Brown Weddings and Events as styled for our Spring/Summer 2018 issue! Set at the pristine white-walled and high-ceiling Adolphus Hotel ballroom, it would be a breeze to style this already gorgeous space with a soft and feminine look, typical of what one might find in a similar setting. But the Donnie Brown team took things one step further, adding in interesting details and stand-out design elements to give this shoot a fun up-to-date twist. Joseph Mark Photography captured the magic on set in everything from the model couple sharing a laugh to the simple yet elegant paper suite custom created by Paper Planet. With the help of Beautiful Event Rentals, the team was able to create a lounge space showcasing a unique pick of furniture in an array of structures, from the glass-top geometric metal table to a more classic, plush tufted love seat. The model bride’s classic look was the perfect complement to the setting, with a fitted embellished gown with a floor-sweeping train from Stardust Celebrations and soft, feminine makeup featuring a punchy pink lip color, created by Jennifer Trotter – Lip Service Makeup. By far our favorite details of this shoot though were the the use of floating elements, like the rose, hydrangea and peony-filled garland and the stunning six-tiered cake from Delicious Cakes, all suspended for a super unique cake-cutting area. We’re oh-so-smitten over this shoot! Enjoy!

From the planner, Donnie Brown of Donnie Brown Weddings and Events: “We wanted to create an aesthetic that worked with the open-air setting of the ballroom with the large angled windows. We felt the acrylic and the floating floral would be a great way to enhance the airiness of the room. We worked with primarily white but added pale pink for depth of design.”
