Rustic Southwest Wedding Captured by Charla Storey Photography | Katherine + Jason

SWEET BEGINNINGS: Jason and Katherine had both just moved to Dallas for work, and had been living in the same apartment complex without knowing it. One night they were each with a group of friends walking to a bar in Uptown, and struck up a conversation. They decided to go to the same bar where Jason introduced himself, they talked, and then had a dance off! Jason asked Katherine to dinner, and her friend encouraged her to go. After that first day, she knew he was special.
PERFECT PROPOSAL: Jason went to Katherine’s hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for Christmas. On Christmas Eve, they went to church and then to dinner in downtown Pittsburgh. After dinner, Jason wanted to ride the incline trolley that goes up Mt. Washington to a lookout point over the city. It was 14 degrees and freezing, but he insisted that they go. When the trolley appeared, Katherine saw that inside were candles and flowers. That’s when she knew! Once they stepped inside, Jason dropped down on one knee and asked Katherine to marry him. At the top of the hill, Katherine’s parents were waiting to celebrate with champagne. Next, they went to a local bar where all of Katherine’s close family and friends were waiting to surprise her. It was very romantic and something she will never forget.
RUSTIC SOUTHWEST: Katherine and Jason wanted a rustic, but elegant wedding. A country feel with class. Being inspired by Texas and the Southwest, they used navy, grey, gold, orange, pink and green to accomplish their design vision. They incorporated wildflowers and country elements, while keeping the celebration classy and elegant.
DELICIOUS DISHES: Food was a big priority for Jason and Katherine, and they were thrilled to work with Gil’s Elegant Catering. Gil’s helped them pick entrees and appetizers that were representative of their hometowns and their new home, Dallas! They enjoyed Pittsburgh style steak, wild chicken, and fish etoufee.
