Sarah Foley and Elijah Burge’s Organic DFW Wedding at The White Sparrow Barn
PERFECT PROPOSAL: Elijah took Sarah on a trip to Jamaica for a week. The first night they were there, they went to dinner and then took a romantic walk back to the hotel. When she walked in the room, there were candles everywhere with rose petals spelling out, “Will you marry me?” She turned around in tears, and Elijah was on one knee. Following was a bottle of champagne, dessert, and the rest of the week to stare at the beautiful ring on her finger and the love of her life by her side in paradise.
THE SETTING: The White Sparrow Barn was the perfect blank canvas for Sarah and Elijah’s modern and minimalistic wedding. They loved that they had the freedom to create the wedding they envisioned. They also adored the large fields and huge oak trees surrounding the barn and the intimate feeling of the venue.
HUES SHE USED: Sarah believes simplicity is key when it comes to weddings. She chose a color palette of white and grey to keep the palette neutral, and added in blush and wine shades for pops of color. The greenery she incorporated in the decor exuded natural beauty and a lush, organic feel.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: The most memorable moment from their wedding day for Sarah and Elijah was the first look. Seeing each other, just the two of them, was so intimate and special. They were able to have time together before the ceremony to see each other, share happy tears, read through their vows and calm their nerves.
SAVORY SWEETS: Sarah and Elijah had a three-tiered almond cake with blackberry curd filling and a cream cheese buttercream frosting. Oh Deery provided the stunning flowers draped around the cake with a simple cake topper that said, “Today and forever.” They also had a dessert bar with single-serving jars filled with peach cobbler, banana pudding and a s’mores dessert. What is a Texas wedding without these delicious Texas treats?
DELICIOUS DISHES: Reata served a buffet-style meal for Sarah and Elijah’s wedding. The meal included a mixed green salad, homemade rolls, chicken and tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes and mixed grilled veggies.
