A Slate Blue and Blush Wedding with a Fun-Loving Touch

Sentimental but fun was the vision when Alyx and James were planning their slate blue and blush wedding captured by Jen Symes Photography and full of so much modern, rustic romance. The delicate color palette looks right at home in a lofty whitewashed barn setting where Haute Poppies brought a little floral magic and plentiful greenery to nearly every scene. Bride Alyx looked simply stunning in a strapless Maggie Sottero gown from LuLu’s Bridal featuring a tiered tulle ballgown skirt and paired with a dreamy fingertip length veil trimmed with ivory satin. Right in its place in this wedding fairytale, a three-tiered cake from Butterfly Cakery showed off varying patterned layers with the same thing in common – they look too pretty to be sliced! Alyx and James kept it lighthearted but oh-so-sweet and even included arcade-style games as a reference to the couple’s first date. Read on for more from the bride about that fun-loving wedding detail from their slate blue and blush wedding plus what made it such a hit! Cheers to the new Mr. and Mrs. Waits!

From the bride: “James and I don’t take ourselves too seriously and so we wanted our wedding reception to be sentimental but still fun. Since Barcadia was part of our first date, we had arcade games. James is a basketball coach and a huge Mavs fan so we had a basketball game and skee ball. It was a big hit and a cute tie back to our first date.”
