Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across North Texas, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty.

This month, we’re featuring Tara and Philip’s modern and elegant affair. Indian fusion, moody florals, and a feminine color palette make this wedding one to remember!

How the Couple Met

Tara and Philip’s love story begins like many modern romances — through a dating app! The two matched on Hinge in 2019 and spent their first date at Klyde Warren Park grabbing afternoon drinks. “I knew Tara was really special when we met and that I really wanted to see her again,” writes Philip.

Although a microburst storm forced the pair to move inside (even knocking the power out), Tara and Philip still had a wonderful time together. “I still remember laughing at Philip’s stories from day one — his comedic wit is one of my favorite qualities,” Tara writes.

On May 6 2023, the couple tied the knot in Dallas, TX!

The Wedding Day

Tara and Philip had optional events throughout the weekend that allowed them to spend more quality time with guests. On the morning of the big day, Tara and her bridesmaids were beautified by the talented artists at Etoilly Artistry.

Before the ceremony, In addition to hair and makeup, Tara’s family also held an intimate ceremony to put ‘chura’ or decorative Indian bangles on her. Coupled with an Indian wedding lehenga and a bouquet from Blushington Blooms, she was nothing short of stunning!

Tara and Philip’s wedding integrated both of their faiths and cultures. For their ceremony, Tara and Philip had a Hindu ceremony followed by a Christian blessing. The couple incorporated various Indian traditions into their special day, such as Indian baraat, where Phil entered on a horse with a classic Indian drummer to the side entrance of the venue.

At the reception, guests enjoyed a fusion dinner while surrounded by beautiful decor from BBJ La Tavola. “After dinner, we kicked off the dancing with a custom choreographed dance across three songs. This was followed by dances from the groomsmen, bridesmaids, and family,” writes the couple. “We had the band play first and then switched to the Indian DJ.”

Thanks to Ellen Ashton Photography, the couple has a plethora of beautiful photos to reminisce on. Their wedding was not only special, but completely unique to them as a couple: “Indian weddings often have a traditional vibrant color palette, with the bride often wearing red. By mixing it up with shades of pinks, burgundy and champagne, we made it ours.”

Tara & Philip’s Favorite Moment

“As guests arrived, they were brought to the side entrance to muster near the golf course. Philip entered on a literal white horse (a north Indian tradition) accompanied by an Indian drummer and a train of groomsmen and ushers. When they reached the guests, more music was played, warming up the crowd with a bit of dancing, and Philip was welcomed by Tara’s parents.”
