Founded on dual passions, Zafiro was born when owner Karina Benavides combined her love for travel and jewelry. Before Zafiro ever came to be, the family-owned business gained more than 20 years of experience with a store in Nicaragua. In her 20’s she also gained experience in the field by managing a wholesale Fine Jewelry Store and also worked for a retail Jewelry store in Canada. In 2012, she decided to move to Nicaragua, but a desire to work for the airline had her moving back to United States in 2014. However, soon she also dreamed up an online jewelry store – Zafiro Jewelers was born. s. They specialize in minimalist, modern, chic and timeless styles from different parts of the world.
As Karina developed Zafiro Jewelers, other priorities surfaced, namely sustainability. Zafiro represents a high-quality brand of jewelry that can withstand everyday wear to promote a slow fashion lifestyle and minimize the company’s footprint. To achieve this, Zafiro handpicks ethically sourced, recycled or eco-friendly metals. Once sourced, they go on to create jewelry that is high quality and accessible — the best of both worlds!
