Chicago native Elizabeth met Phil while they were studying at Texas Christian University. She was a junior at TCU while Phil was seeking his master’s degree. The pair had mutual friends and eventually met when one of their friends picked up Phil after a Texas Rangers watch party while Elizabeth was in the car. Phil knew he found “the one” that night and pursued her. Their families ended up meeting during TCU’s family weekend, and they have been inseparable since.

To celebrate their three-year dating anniversary and Phil’s MBA graduation, the couple jetted to California. The last leg of their trip was spent relaxing in Orange County. On their second night, Phil made a reservation at the Montage Laguna Beach resort, a nostalgic spot for Elizabeth. Arriving to dinner early, Phil suggested they take a walk on the beach. As they soaked in the ocean views, Phil got down on one knee and romantically asked for Elizabeth’s hand in marriage.
